Who's Pardon Hypocrisy, Again?

It's maddening to see a silly and stupid double-standard. After President Biden wisely pardoned a wide spectrum of people in his final hours, from various family members and allies to Liz Cheney, the Right-Wing Media Complex has been tearing its hair out about how unfair that was. How dare Biden cheat Trump out of getting revenge for imagined slights! How dare he end the witch hunt before it begins! The GOP is even vowing to "investigate" Biden's pardons, undoubtedly to find some sort of loophole they can exploit to punish the undeserving anyway.

The totality of this claim reverberating even through the legacy media is profound. I mean, we expect such nonsense from the Washington Post these days, but even Newsweek is complaining about Biden's pardons, calling them "much worse" than Trump's. And USA Today is saying that Biden's pardons "take the wind out of Democrats' sails for criticizing Trump."

This is exactly backwards.

Trump pardoned those who attacked the police. (Way to back the Blue, there.) He pardoned those who engaged in insurrection against these United States. He pardoned active, violent traitors. Most of whom were convicted in a court of law!

And the media is condemning the pre-pardoning of those not convicted of anything? As a means of protecting them from litigation against (deliberate use of the term here) Trumped-up charges?

Come on!

It's easy to see now why Biden lost. With a media this befuddled, this disjointed from reality, and this upside-down, inside-out, and backwards, its no wonder democracy failed. People don't know their ass from their elbow - just like the oligarchs who own the media outlets intended from the start.

Biden was wise to diffuse the witch-hunt before it began. He was absolutely within his right as president to pardon whomever he fucking wants, for whatever he fucking wants. So if the GOP wants to "investigate" that, too bad! That's enshrined within the Constitution, and that's that. And, thanks to the not-so-Supreme Court, Biden could have done far, far worse and been absolutely immune. Only Biden's higher moral standards prevented him from doing so.

It's a pure oligarchy, now. Debate will rage about how much is oligarchy vs. kleptocracy vs. kakistocracy, but ours is a democracy in name only. ("D.I.N.O.," appropriately.) No voting public this disinformed will ever vote for its own, true interests.

Whether we ever get a chance to reclaim our democracy from the ash pile may now depend upon the depth of ineptitude of the newly installed administration.

And maybe, just maybe, a Right-Wing Media Complex which lies to starkly that even our deaf populace will wake up.

I mean, those lies are starting to get pretty obvious, aren't they?
